Confined to the Streets
The rain was drenching down, a relentless torrent that turned my driveway into a miniature river. I stood there, soaked to the bone and utterly helpless. My keys were locked away, on the other side of that impenetrable barrier - my own front door. Panic started to bubble in my chest. How could I be imprisoned outside, in this unforgiving weather, unable to reach the warmth and safety of home?
- Thoughts raced through my mind. Could I call a locksmith? What if they were too busy to respond in this storm?
- I tried the door again, grasping at the handle with wet hands. It wouldn't budge.
- Anxiety began to set in. I was alone, exposed, and utterly vulnerable.
Unexpectedly, a light flickered on in the house across the street. Maybe someone could see me? Could someone help?
